This paddle from Eau Claire to Wabasha follows the Chippewa River and offers quiet, wide rivers, bluffs, wetlands, and plenty of sandy beaches. Perfect for a 2-3 night trip. Start at Phoenix park in Eau Claire, but maybe show up a day early to enjoy some of the food, drinks, and attractions of Eau Claire before starting. There are a few points to take out along the way should the need arise. A good restock is in Durand where you can find a grocery store, cafes, and various other restaurants. There are plenty of sand bars at every point along the river that you can stop and camp on without permits. There are long stretches of river where you will not see any signs of people or towns. A highlight of the area. Talk to Broken Paddle guides for up-to-date information, questions, and help planning a trip.
